Memorial Day hike Cataract trail

We took an incredible hike on Memorial day. Cataract falls on Mt. Tamalpias was full of water and wildflowers everywhere. We hiked from Alpine lake up to the top, through laurel Dells and then picnicked at the top of Mt. Tam overlooking a picturesque view of San Francisco. This was a real gem of a day.

A Wonderful Day at the Berkeley Rose Garden

Today I went to a travel sketching class in Berkeley. It was a great class with Julie Cohn teaching. We went to the rose garden and painted for 3 hours. I had never been here before. What a treat to find this exquisite place right in my own backyard!

A gorgeous terraced garden.

Spring is here!

Spring is here and I love this time of year. The yard is so gorgeous and the air smells so wonderful. Here I will share some pictures of my garden. I love working in the garden in Spring. Hiking in the hills of Marin is a pure joy in Spring. There are so many wildflowers in bloom everywhere.

May is a pretty time in the garden

The Iris have been spectacular this year!

Home from Sedona

We arrived home from Sedona on Sunday. It was a perfect week away. We had cold weather, snow and rain, but it all added to the spectacular beauty of the desert.

Some of the highlights of our trip were the spectacular vistas, the monuments everywhere and the cliff dwellings. We took a great hike to Sterling pass one day. The best meal we had was in Flagstaff at La Bellavia Restaurant where we went for breakfast. Our son told us not to miss this place as it serves the best eggs benedict in the world! We had “The Neptune” and it was delicious. An eggs benedict with crab and avacado- they had about 10 choices plus lots of other great breakfast choices. We had  lots of fun eating there. From there we went to Walnut Canyon and saw the cliff dwellings there. That was a wonderful exhibit and hike. I highly suggest visiting when in the area.

Cactus in full bloom.

We took a wonderful ride to cottonwood and then up to the town Jerome . We really loved Jerome and all the galleries. There was wondeful artwork there done by locals. It was snowing really hard and this is a picture of the entrance to the ghost town.

Amazing how the Sinagua built thier homes and communities in the cliffs.
